St Matthew's Maryland Community Ministry

Members of St Mary Anglican work with and support the inner-city community ministry of St Matthew’s Maryland, located in West Central Winnipeg . We are one of five parishes providing ongoing active support to the Community Ministry through the St. Matthews Maryland Anglican Consortium (Diocese of Rupert’s Land) as well as nine United Churches in Winnipeg Presbytery.

Volunteers from St Mary's prepare and deliver food, assist with programs and activities, including providing hospitality at the drop-in. We also provide donations of non-perishable food items for the Emergency Food Cupboard - stocked primarily by donations from supporting congregations. Learn more about the Food Cupboard as part of the community ministry's food security: stmatthewsmaryland.ca/programs/emergency-food-cupboard/

Emergency Food Cupboard: Food items most in need:
  • Kraft dinner
  • Pasta sauce
  • Dry pasta
  • Canned prepared pasta – e.g. Chef Boyardee or Alphaghetti
  • Canned soups (the heartier the better)
  • Canned pork and beans
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned meats and tuna
  • Oatmeal or cereal
Donations brought to St. Mary for the Emergency Food Cupboard are regularly delivered to St. Matthew's Maryland by volunteers. See more about the ministry at St Matthew’s Maryland Community Ministry on their website and contact them directly to volunteer and for additional opportunities to help.
