St Mary Abundance Community Garden
St. Mary has a large green space of about 6 000 square feet, on its premises, which for many years was undeveloped. In 2014, the parish took the bold step to develop this space into a community allotment garden to be named St. Mary Abundance Community Gardens.
Since its formation, the Gardens have been well-used by community gardeners, food bank clients and residents of neighbouring social housing complexes. Some of the garden beds are put aside for communal fruit plantings, including raspberries, grapes, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. We acknowledge that we meet and work on Treaty 1 territory, the traditional land of the Anishinaabe, Cree, and Dakota peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation. We are grateful for their stewardship of this land and their hospitality which allows us to live, work and serve God the Creator here.
