Ministry with Children and Youth

Picture
The community of St Mary's aims to provide children with the experience of God’s love,  offering Children's Sunday worship focused on Bible stories and lessons, play-based instruction, crafts, games and special projects.  September through June, we offer Children's Sunday worship in the lower hall for preschool and school aged children.  Most weeks, this means leaders and children head to the lower hall following Children's Time in our Sunday worship.  The first Sunday of each month is family worship, and children remain to celebrate worship with their families and parishioners. When staying for the service, children's books and activities are easy to find  - our "kids area" located in the Narthex is stocked with age-appropriate materials to keep them happily occupied during the church service.

Please note: our Sunday School is currently on hiatus while programing is reassessed. Our family room (adjacent to the sanctuary) is available for use during services.

We're always trying to get creative! Last year, we kicked off the spring season with a collaboration with the church's Breakfast Club, who generously built us a much-appreciated children's garden. The kids greatly enjoyed puttering around their garden on summer Sunday mornings - allowing us to learn about Biblical parables, and enjoy lots of fresh air and sunshine in the process! This inspired us to plant seeds, selling the starter plants as a way of raising funds. The children decided to devote the proceeds to the Community Garden project, which were used to purchase raspberry canes and grapevine for the garden.
