Members of St Mary Anglican work with and support the inner-city community ministry of  1Just City's West End site at West End Commons, located in West Central Winnipeg  at 365 McGee Street. We are one of five parishes providing ongoing active support to the West End Drop In of 1Just City through the St. Matthews Maryland Anglican Consortium (Diocese of Rupert’s Land) as well as several United Churches in Winnipeg. These relationships draw on the shared ministry of  St. Matthew's Anglican Church and the former Maryland United Church that shared the building for many years.

West End Drop-In is temporarily housed at the 1Just City West Broadway site at 222 Furby St. (Crossways in Common), in order to continue their programs there while repairs are being carried out. When these repairs are finished, West End Drop- In will return to its home base at West End Commons and resume full programming and activities.

Volunteers from St. Mary who would enjoy meeting our friends in the West End are welcome to sign up for various positions using the link https://signup.com/go/FBHpcpx  The areas requiring volunteers are hospitality, a friend, food bank, community barbecues etc.

St. Mary supports the annual fundraiser for the Drop-In,  the Urban Retreats Garden Tour. This year's tour will be held June 24, 2023 in South St. Vital. More information about tickets is HERE

We also provide donations of non-perishable food items for the Emergency Food Cupboard - stocked primarily by supporting congregations.  Emergency Food Cupboard's most in need items:
  • Kraft dinner
  • Pasta sauce
  • Dry pasta
  • Canned prepared pasta – e.g. Chef Boyardee or Alphaghetti
  • Canned soups (the heartier the better)
  • Canned pork and beans
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned meats and tuna
  • Oatmeal or cereal
Donations collected from parishioners  for the Emergency Food Cupboard are regularly delivered to the Drop In. Learn more about the 1Just City West End Drop-in on their website and contact them directly to volunteer and for additional opportunities to help.
